Cleaning doesn’t have to be expensive to be effective! As we’re in spring cleaning season, I thought it would be fun to share some tips and hacks for cleaning your home for less than $5. I’m hoping you have everything you need available, so it might even be free! Let’s get creative and use what we have to start or finish our spring cleaning – read on for some great tips to help you get started.
To spring clean your whole home for less than $5, we need to think of what we already have around the home and then how to use it for another purpose.
Clean Surfaces: Use cleaning cloths you already have or use dish towels (flour sack towels work great) and so do old t-shirts.
DIY Cleaners: The cheapest way to clean is to make your own cleaners. I’ve been sharing these recipes for YEARS. Go here to see my favorite recipes.
To Clean Crevices: Use a toilet paper or paper towel tube to get into tight spaces and crevices. This is a great way to clean odd spaces and the best thing is that you can toss it when you’re done. You can also cut off the dirty part and keep using it until it’s gone.
Hard to Reach Spots: If you have a soft, clean broom you can use it clean corners and crevices. This works great for cobwebs and dust and can easily clean vents as well as corners.
Dust Fans: Use a pillowcase or an old t-shirt to clean fans – put the pillowcase or t-shirt over each fan blade and pull off to catch the dust.
Use a Mop to Clean Walls: Make sure you have a clean mop head on the mop and use a little bit of dish soap and warm water to clean walls.
